I LOVE crochet! I didn't always, but I do now. My mother taught me to crochet when I was about 10 years old. After learning the basics (you know, making a slip knot, learning the basic chain stitch and and single crochet stitch) I crocheted my first project. It was a snake. An incredibly long neon pink & green snake, stuffed with fiberfill, old nylon stockings. I sewed on two black buttons for it's eyes and sewed on a pink forked tongue made out of felt. I was so proud of it! I had it for years, even after I got married and had my first child. Sadly, I lost it in a flood that hit our home, but it can still see it in my minds eye and it makes me smile. I crocheted a few other things after that, nothing memorable, but I was pretty good at the basics.
Flash forward to two years ago. My daughter, a photographer, was needing a crocheted photo-prop. She knew I could crochet and asked it I could make it for her. So I did. That was all it took, I was hooked! (no pun intended) Crocheting brought back so many memories for me. It made me feel closer to my mom who been gone such a long time. It also relieved stress. It was amazing how much better I felt after crocheting. So I just kept doing it. Now I'm a crocheting fool! I am addicted to crochet and I'm not afraid to admit it. Now I make things for family, friends and for sale!
